| On the day Trevor Hodge
graduates from college, he is visited by a stranger who informs him
that his father, whom he never knew, has died in a bull riding
accident. Curious to find out more about a man that abandoned his
family (for reasons that Trevor never knew or completely understood)
he goes to the small town of Spiro, Oklahoma, to attend the funeral.
While visiting Spiro, he learns of his father's heroic career and a
little about the life of “Cowboy Jettie Hodge,” but more
surprisingly, that he is the heir to a small cowboy fortune. Trevor
tries to return to an accounting job offered to him in Kansas City
but is drawn back to Spiro by a subconscious and relentless yearning
to learn who his father really was, and hopefully, more about
himself. During his search he falls in love with his lost family,
but most of all, one of his father's former female companions, a
young and beautiful half Choctaw named Bella Sonoma. He visits with
people who were close to his father and travels the rodeo circuit,
realizing first hand the passion and dream his father once had, as
well as the truth about the lifestyle Trevor's mother would never
allow. |
